Then, it hit me. What would my statistic be among people who knew me, but did not know my background? What percentage of my acquaintances would know I am a Christian? I’m afraid, my numbers would probably be lower than Mr. Obama’s. Embarrassing to say? Of course.

As a young person, I would read Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” I would trust those words because of the testimony of the one who wrote them. I trusted Paul. Why did I trust Paul?

This has made me wonder. I have often wondered (in the sense of marveled) that the original translators had the courage to do it right! Then I have often wondered (in the sense of “I wish I knew”) HOW MANY CALLS AND LETTERS the translators and publisher received from the “sola fidei” folks complaining about the original version and demanding a change.
